James has been an active climber in the UK and abroad since the early 1990′s. In this time he has climbed extensively in all disciplines, from multipitch trad routes to sport redpoints. His ticklist includes many routes throughout the UK including several new routes in Wales, The Lake District and Scotland. Climbing trips abroad have included Yosemite, Madagascar, Patagonia and many areas in Europe.
He enjoys working with anyone wanting to improve their climbing and improve their safety and competence in the mountains. One of the areas of work he enjoyed most was organising Youth Climbing Weekends in areas in England and Wales for young people to gain skills and experience of trad climbing in some of the UKs great landscapes with experienced volunteers. Perhaps the best day out James has had was with one of the regular young people Lewis Perrin when Lewis guided James up A Midsummer Nights Dream on Clogwyn Ddu'r Arddu.
